Library assistants provide assistance to library staff with special reference to the care and upkeep of a library’s collection. Library assistants provide assistance to librarians in the care and upkeep of libraries. With more than half their time devoted to hands-on work, they are a vital force in any library.

Library assistants have a number of specific responsibilities, such as stocking shelves, re-shelving books, and periodicals, filing materials, cataloging books and other items, reading newspapers for obituaries and sending notices of death to members, lending videos and CDs to library patrons;

weeding out old or damaged books; answering reference questions; using computers for database searches; shelving audiobooks on CD or cassette when the audiobook titles are not on computer databases so that patrons can locate them through browsing by subject or author; setting up displays; opening and closing the building at specified times two or three times a day.

 Through this BIRTAN  job circular 2022, a total of vacancy people will be recruited.
